My attention was caught by the surreal butterfly imagery used in these adverts for the luxury mobile phone company Vertu. The concept behind the firm is to market hand-crafted mobile phones as luxury fashion accessories, with the emphasis on style and service using the highest quality materials available. Prices range from £213,000 for the 2006 Signature Cobra model, to a more modest £3500 for the Constellation model.
Other limited edition models have been made in collaboration with other luxury brands such as Ferrari and Boucheron (above), resulting in the Ascent Ferrari 60 and Vertu Boucheron 150 models. The Boucheron collaboration celebrated the 150th anniversary of the French jewelery house, and the Vertu Boucheron 150 was made from solid gold. I really like the geometric faceted face design of the Boucheron collaboration but feel it is a bit too ostentatious. The surreal and stylish adverts cleverly link the Vertu brand with the fashion industry's love of butterfly imagery on haute-couture clothing, (see previous posts on Alexander McQueen and Jean Paul Gaultier).
