Valentino presented their SS Resort 2015 collection and have taken us south of the border. They have clearly built on the butterfly theme from their previous AW 14 collection, and also taken inspiration from the strong visual identity of artist Frida Kahlo, and added central/south American textiles, and the flora and fauna of that region into the mix.
Many of the clothes seem very tomboyish in that they are utilitarian and functional and are military inspired. Some of the pieces below are so densely patterned they also resemble army camouflage patterns. The patterns are relieved however by the richness of the reds and purples and yellow colouring in the prints of the butterfly designs.
This dress below, from the SS15 collection is interesting in that is much more feminine than the army inspired pieces above. I really like the the bird motif of the print and the vibrant colours of the birds. The gold bird earring accessories are also great without being too obvious.
