Ventricle: Royal Festival Hall

I was enchanted by these two installations titled Ventricle, in the Royal Festival Hall. They are by New York based design studio SOFTlab. They consist of over 7000 unique pieces of aluminium and 3M solar mirror film which produces beautiful light reflective qualities. They are like modern pieces of stained glass.

The installations are part of the Southbank centre's Festival of Love, and these installations are created to be suggestive of biological structures representing the valves and inner workings of the human heart, a traditional symbol of love throughout many cultures, and also the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a place synonymous with the meeting of many languages and cultures. They are really mesmerising and beautiful.
