The RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch takes place between the 28-30th January. Like the Big Butterfly Count, The Big Garden Birdwatch helps give an indication of the state of wildlife across the UK. This year for the first time the Big Garden Birdwatch takes place over three days instead of two, giving you the opportunity of an extra day to spot birds.
Last year more than half a million people took part, and the most recorded birds were the House Sparrow, the Starling, the Blue Tit, the Blackbird and the Wood Pigeon.
To take part you must register, and you will then recieve a free pack. The RSPB website, has lots of information on registering and how to get involved. The pack includes useful advice about which birds to look out for, as well as how to attract birds to your outdoor space or local park if you don't have a garden. To register and request a free Birdwatch pack click here, or go to rspb.org.uk.
