Joshua Kane: The Falling Blossom Collection

More recent fashion featuring butterflies. This time the rather wonderful Spring/Summer 2018 Falling Blossom collection of designer Joshua Kane. I admire both his personal dandy aesthetic, and the vision of his designs which take their inspiration from fashions of an earlier age. You can see more of said designs on his website here. The Falling Blossom collection consists of sharply tailored silk jaquard designs adorned with lovely foliage and a liberal smattering of butterflies.

A close-up of the detailed butterfly embroidery, and the designer himself modelling the stunning red version of the Falling Blossom suit at a recent event in London.

Giambattista Valli - Butterfly Kisses

Throwback Thursday. I've been digging through my files for inspiration for a fashion related project that I am currently working on. I rewound to Giambattista Valli's  - Butterfly Kisses 2012 AW show, which featured some strong, shapely silhouttes which looked to be inspired by fin de siècle Parisian Art Nouveau, with a nod to the graphic design of Silence of The Lambs.

Mark Grotjahn: Butterflies Through Other Eyes #39

Loving the angles and dazzlingly kaleidoscopic colour combinations of these Mark Grotjahn butterfly paintings.
