Antony Gormley: In Formation
Another exhibition of Antony Gormley sculptures after last years Royal Academy retrospective (here). The new sculptures found at In Formation in White Cube's Mason's Yard outpost question 'to what extent we are the product of our environment and to what extent we are the makers of it.' The upper floor contains large, grey 'Stack' works clinging to the gallery walls for support, whereas the 'Aggregates' on the floor below are again versions of the human form with a lovely, vibrant orange-coloured rust on their pixellated surfaces engaged in various forms of balance and exercise. The circular composition ink and wash drawings accompanying the sculptures are particularly lovely.
