Frieze Sculpture 2023

Zak Ové - The Mothership Connection (detail), 2021

To Regent's Park once again for the annual installation of Frieze Sculpture - the precursor to the annual art fair which opens later this week. Again there was the usual mix of the weird and wonderful set amongst the flora and fauna of the parks' English Gardens. Highlights for me were Tony Matelli's Sleepwalker, disturbingly realistic, and a humouressly surreal touch, Ayşe Erkmen's - Model for a Moss Column, Louise Nevelson's Model for Celebration II, (whose work I discovered here)and Ghada Amer's - My Body My Choice, which I'd seen previously at her show on Cork Street last year (here). Zak Ové's - The Mothership Connection was also impressively ambitious in scale.
