Bouke de Vries: Butterflies Through Other Eyes #57

 Madama Butterfly

"The butterfly in still life is a symbol for the resurrection in (the) way I see what I do through my work” - Bouke de Vries...:

Some rather beautiful sculptures created by former ceramics restorer Bouke de Vries. They are made from an assortment of rescued, broken ceramics, and often feature Kintsugi gold laquer to join and emphasise the broken cracks. The 'exploded' sculptures are then reconfigured around a supporting armature and then usually embellished with an assortment of real butterfly bodies to complete them, creating something uniquely covetable and gorgeous.
